FAQ's
What is Traffic Accident Reconstruction?

Traffic accident reconstruction is the science of recreating the dynamics of a collision in an attempt to determine cause. This investigation method utilizes many investigative tools and applies them using physics, engineering, evidence collection and interpretation, mapping, witness interviews and more to develop a recreated factual and accurate account of the collision.

Who are Reconstruction Investigators and how are they trained?

Reconstructionists are generally police officers, physicists and engineers. Engineers and physicists are educated in the laws of physics and therefore are considered experts on objects in motion and the forces acting on those objects. Police officers attaining the education needed to become a reconstructionist are highly trained investigators educated in evidence collection and interpretation, documentation of forensic evidence and specially trained in physics and engineering as it relates to traffic accidents. Police officers are highly trained and experienced in courtroom testimony and case preparation.

When selecting a reconstructionist it is important to know what kind of case and case elements you are dealing with. A reconstructionist should be selected based on his or her experience, training, factual presentations, reputation and ability to handle the type of collision in question. While it is true that engineers and physicist are highly educated, they lack the on scene experience, training and planning that goes into an investigation experienced by police officers only minutes after a serious or fatal traffic crash.

Why Use a Reconstructionist?

Accident Attorneys know the law and courtroom procedure of a traffic collision case, but many lack the knowledge required to explain the causation factors behind a traffic crash in an accident claim. Therefore attorneys utilize accident reconstruction experts to investigate and explain the serious and complex cases. The reconstructionist can evaluate and assist in preparation and presentation of a case in a court of law.

Does Jones Forensic Collision Investigations have the training and experience needed to assist me in my case?

If your case is a land based collision the answer is yes. Jeffrey Jones has experienced over and estimated 2000 vehicle collision investigations since becoming a police officer in 1985. Since 1991 he has reconstructed over 30 fatal collisions involving over 34 fatalities. Jeff has also reconstructed over 50 serious crashes. While Jeff is still a patrol Sergeant he continues his knowledge and expertise on the streets today, handling crash investigations and assisting other officers with their investigations. Sgt. Jones has been affirmed as an expert in accident reconstruction  by the PA. Supreme Court and other courts of law.

Can I discuss my case with Jeff before retaining Jones Forensic?
